More than 400 prospective students and guests attended the third annual Graduate Open House on Saturday, Feb. 1 on the Westchester campus. The open house was designed to give prospective students an opportunity to get more information about Loyola Marymount University and to visit the campus.
For the first hour, prospective students mingled with other prospective students to discuss their academic interests. The session started with a welcome by Dean Shane Martin followed by individual group meetings with the various program directors. Attendees were provided with information about the programs and the application process. Finally, for those who were interested, a campus tour was offered.
There are 41 graduate programs and about 2,200 graduate students at LMU. The university ranks no. 3 among the best regional universities in the West. Many of the graduate programs are also highly ranked including the part-time M.B.A. program ranking no. 6 in the nation by Bloomberg BusinessWeek and the School of Film and Television being ranked no. 9 in a list of the top 10 film schools in the U.S. The School of Education was the third university in the state of California to be accredited by the National Credentialing Association for Teacher Education.
